Stripes, stripes, stripes! You see them everywhere in web2.0 sites but how do you actually create them? Now here is your chance to experiment and make those stripes!

Most functions are simple and self-explantatory. Generally, to start, set the size of the canvas (32x32 max), then draw the 'pixels' on the canvas. To see the pattern, hit on GENERATE. You can change the background if you wish. To save the final pattern as a GIF file, click on SAVE.

The generated patterns can be used as a FILL PATTERN in PHOTOSHOP -- this is the reason why Stripe Designer was born. Click here to read a tutorial about this.

You can submit your hand-crafted pattern to the Library. Submitted patterns are subjected to my approval and they can be deleted without any notices. Good parterns will be approved and permanently added to the library.

In order for the pattern to be approved, it has to be

  • Unique and Nice
  • Full-tileable if it's a pattern
  • In case the design is ... an icon, it must look cool!

Stripe Designer is personal project of Alex Le (http://alexle.net). The site is inspired from the idea of having a tool to help making tiles and stripes in Photoshop easier and faster. Thanks to the new Ajax technology, Stripe Designer has been made possible.

Current supported browsers are Firefox 1.5.0.4 and Internet Explorer 6. Konqueror displays the canvas incorrectly (due to padding issues) but I decided to provide support for the more popular browsers instead of spending lots of time on fixing compability. (Oh by the way, this page utilizes tons of tables, just in case you are curious. Sometimes CSS just don't make it while table has been doing its job (layout-ing) so well and is also excellent at cross-browsers compability)

If you have any comments or suggestion, please send to nworld3d[at]yahoo.com or visit the Forum. I had a great time developing Stripe Designer, and I hope you will enjoy it as much.

(If you want to support Stripe Designer, please proceed via the AdBrite Links. Thank you!)
